Logging In to VMWare and Kx

PLEASE READ FOR NEW COMPUTER LOGON INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUMMER RSA AND NIGHT RSA STAFF

(If you are a student manager with an exc account STOP reading—this does not apply to you)

All Summer RSAs and Night RSAs Staff have been given access to the Housing and Dining VMWare system using their primary, student identikey.

  1. Log on to the VMWare station with your student identikey and password to domain AD.
  2. Select the Summer CA pool and click OK.
  3. Once logged in to the desktop, double-click on the Kx Live icon.

In addition you also have the exchangeweb icon.

You will logon to the front desk station account to access important information. For instance, if you are in Aden, you will logon to exchangeweb with the HDSAden account. Please have this email open while you are working to receive work emails.

You also have the Kronos icon to record your time. The first time you logon, say NO to saving your password and click ALLOW to enable the java plug-in.

Last, you have the “Add Printer” icon. Double-click to open it, and find the printer associated with the building you are working in, then double-click to add it.

You are expected to read and abide by the University Computing Security Policies. These documents are available on the Department's intranet site here.

What to do if the Day RSA or Night RSA after you doesn't show up
  1. If a RSA does not show up to their shift find the person’s number in the Contacts list and call them to remind them that their shift has begun.
  2. If they do not answer (or cannot make it to their shift), call other RSAs to see if anyone else can cover the shift; ideally, they would work the full shift (not just two hours).
  3. If no one is able to cover and you cannot work the shift, notify the Residential Services Manager (RSM) On-Call.
  4. From there, decisions on how to move forward will be made by the Pro-Staff On Call.
What is the mailing address for conference guests?

This is the address that conference guests can receive mail at this summer. CU Conference Services receives notification when there are packages or mail. Guests should go to the UPS Store where they mailed their package to retrieve any pacakges or mail.

How does a guest access the wireless internet?

UCB Guest wireless allows campus guests quick and easy access to the Internet. Guests simply choose UCB Guest, open a web browser, agree to Terms and Conditions of Use, and are immediately able to browse the Internet. After 24 hours, guests are required to once again accept Terms and Conditions of Use.

  1. Select UCB Guest as your wireless network.
  2. Open a web browser and go to www.colorado.edu. You will be automatically redirected to a registration page.
  3. Review the Guest Wireless Policy.
  4. Click on the Agree button.
  5. You are now free to use UCB Guest Wireless for basic Internet activity for 24 hours.
  6. Re-registration is required every 24 hours.

UCB Guest wireless only provides general Internet use. Guests cannot access CU Boulder resources that require on-campus connections, such as Library resources and other protected servers and services that are provided strictly for CU Boulder affiliated students, faculty, and staff members. Note: Whenever sensitive data is transmitted on wireless, a VPN should be used for secure data transmission.

Eduroam

The eduroam service is an international secure federated access service, allowing for members of participating institutions to access a secure wireless network when on the CU Boulder campus. Campus visitors from institutions participating in eduroam can simply select eduroam from their operating system Wi-Fi options and connect to eduroam using their institution's credentials. If you experience any issues with while visiting CU Boulder, please contact your home institution's service desk. Campus visitors not from a participating institution should use the UCB Guest wireless service.
